Immersive Media Art in Everyday Spaces: Transforming Corners with Screen Paint

An Unused Space Turned into a Masterpiece

The corner space at Seoul Jeongjin School was initially a simple wall adorned with a painted mural. A projector was mounted on the ceiling, intended to transform the wall into an interactive media space for learning and play. However, the standard wall paired with a low-spec projector fell short of expectations. The lackluster visuals left the space underwhelming and underused.

Rethinking Walls: Creating Experiences, Not Just Screens

Most installations focus on technical specifications—getting the right projector and aligning it to the wall. While these elements are important, they often fail to address the user experience. A poorly lit projection on a standard wall diminishes brightness, contrast, and overall usability, rendering the projector ineffective.

At Paintpam, we go beyond the basics. Our Screen Paint enhances not only the projection’s brightness but also its depth and color vibrancy. By blending two projectors with edge blending technology, we created a dual-surface immersive media setup that fully utilizes the corner space.

Interactive Walls for Active Engagement

Children aren’t passive spectators—they’re curious explorers. Instead of simply watching the media, they touch, tap, and interact with it. The Screen Paint surface, designed to withstand physical contact, ensures that the wall remains durable even with constant engagement. Adding sensors and interactive content allowed the wall to become a dynamic, engaging experience that encourages exploration and creativity.

Everyday Immersive Media Art

Have you ever visited an immersive media art exhibition like Arte Museum or Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience? These grand-scale installations inspire awe, provide moments of healing, and leave a lasting impression.

Now, imagine bringing a smaller-scale version of such an experience into everyday spaces like schools, offices, or public areas. With Screen Paint, even modest-sized spaces can deliver transformative media art experiences. These installations can inspire creativity, foster a sense of wonder, and provide a therapeutic environment—all within the flow of daily life.
